We have all heard the words, "Go ahead, make my day" created by Joseph C. Stinson for Clint Eastwood's character Harry Callahan in the movie Sudden Impact. And according to Wikipedia, it is the #6 most quoted line from a movie out of 100. And did you know there is even the Make My Day Law? Check it out...just google it.
To get to my point on this subject...That simple statement could be taken a few different ways. One way, as we all ready know, is the -- Go ahead, I dare you! A very confrontational way, perhaps to settle a score. Or of the physical nature as in --Go ahead...bleeper bleeper..Hit me! (Way to painful for this corn off the Cobb..smile)
Another way to "Go ahead, make my day" is just the opposite of that very confrontational way. And that is to really go out and make someone else's day a better one. There are a million ways to accomplish this very challenging endeavor. Just think of a time in your life when you were feeling so low in your heart and alone...All of a sudden, someone out of the clear blue sky, approaches you, looks you square in the eye and says, in all sincerity, "Have a blessed day, my sister/ my brother" This has happened to me on more than one occasion, and I have always considered these happenings my mini miracles.
I think it's a lifelong challenge and is put before us everyday in one form or another. Big or small, doesn't matter. We don't always recognize it, but it's there. Go ahead, take the dare. Challenge yourself... Make Someone Else's Day, A Better One.
